Girl jumps off Faridabad school roof, dies; dad says made to stand in sun for hours

A 16-year-old student at Navodaya Vidya Niketan Senior Secondary School in Faridabad allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the third-floor terrace on Tuesday, according to police. The girl's father claims she was punished by being forced to stand in the sun for four hours before taking the extreme step. However, the school denies this allegation.

The girl was found by school staff and rushed to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital, where she was declared dead from injuries sustained in the fall. The father has filed a formal complaint, but school authorities deny the reported punishment and claim she went to the terrace suddenly after leaving a bathroom with a female staff member.

Police are investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage. This case is reminiscent of a similar suicide of a Class 4 student in Jaipur last November, whose family alleged bullying and inadequate response from school authorities.
