Supreme Court scraps all FIRs for NEET protesters across the country

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court dismissed all FIRs against the Cockroach Janta Party protesters across the nation. The Indian government had moved the court to take this action. The court utilized its inherent powers to do "complete justice" under Article 142 of the Constitution, as stated in the ruling.

Earlier in the day, the Cockroach Janta Party announced its decision to withdraw its call for a protest on September 5. This decision came after the Centre and four states asked the Supreme Court to discard cases related to students who participated in protests over a paper leak in Delhi and other locations.

Saurav Das, co-convenor of the Cockroach Janta Party, expressed his satisfaction with the court's decision. He stated that in light of the government's assurances, the judicial sanctity bestowed upon them, and the order passed by the court, the CJP deemed it appropriate to withdraw the call for the march on the 5th of September. The court heard applications from the Delhi Police and the states of Maharashtra, Assam, Bihar, and West Bengal seeking to quash the FIRs registered against the protesting students.
