Russian attack kills four in Boryspil and damages homes

In Boryspil, Ukraine, a Russian attack on September 1 claimed four lives and left 13 injured, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirming the fatalities. Earlier reports from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service placed the death toll at three with 12 people injured, numbers that were later updated. The attack caused significant damage in Boryspil, destroying a five-story apartment building, a store, and two private residences.

Three vehicles ignited and were extinguished by emergency responders. Rescue teams evacuated 48 individuals from the damaged apartment structure and recovered two individuals from the debris. Additionally, eight individuals sustained injuries at this location, including two newborns born in 2021 and 2010, according to the State Emergency Service.

Other parts of Boryspil also suffered from the attack, with a truck ablaze at an infrastructure facility and a company building damaged. These incidents resulted in two deaths and three injuries. A service station was also impacted, resulting in one fatality.

In the village of Hryhorivka, falling debris damaged an infrastructure facility and two apartment buildings. In Husachivka, 11 private homes, a garage, and a passenger vehicle sustained damage. Rescue efforts persist at the affected sites and are addressing the aftermath of the attack. Additionally, Russia launched a precise ballistic missile strike on a railway depot and other Ukrainian Railways facilities in Kyiv on September 1.

The strike resulted in the deaths of seven people, six of whom were railway employees. The attack inflicted considerable destruction, including the total collapse of one workshop. Kyiv had previously issued 11 air-raid alerts on August 31 due to the threat posed by Shahed drones equipped with jet engines. During that day, eight individuals were reported injured.

Russian forces have been conducting continuous drone assaults on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast since August 27.
