Pezeshkian thanks Putin for position on Iran war, says Tehran, Moscow resist US 'unilateralism'

The ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States continue to raise global security concerns. According to a report, US President Donald Trump is contemplating limited strikes in the Strait of Hormuz to deter Iran from re-establishing its missile and radar capabilities used to target vessels. Trump and his top advisors are deliberating these strikes in order to prevent Iran from breaching its commitments under the June interim deal.

A White House official stated that while Iran desires a deal, they are "always a day late and a dollar short." The plan for limited strikes in the strait was reportedly developed over the past week by US Central Command (CENTCOM) and received the backing of Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth. The objective of these strikes is to prevent Iranian attacks on oil tankers, naval ships, and Air Force aircraft in the Gulf.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted that Tehran would promptly retaliate if the US reverts to its commitments under the MOU, as reported by Iran International. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan called for a more pragmatic approach to resolving conflicts in the Middle East, highlighting that the policy of targeting Arab Gulf states and Jordan has failed.

The UAE's Ministry of Defence also denied reports of an attack on Al Minhad Air Base, stating that such claims are false.
