Teenager stabs man to death during argument in Cross River

On the evening of an unspecified date, a tragic incident unfolded in Awi, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Uwem Daniel Akpan. The cause of Akpan’s death was a stabbing inflicted by a 16-year-old boy. The precise circumstances surrounding the argument that led to the fatal stabbing are yet to be fully elucidated.

Following the violent act, Akpan was swiftly transported to the Naval Reference Hospital in Calabar, where he succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the 16-year-old suspect remains undisclosed due to his young age. However, he has been apprehended by the police and is presently held in custody. The deceased's family has recovered his body.

Confirmed by Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the police have launched an investigation into the incident. Akata emphasized that the police are examining the details of the event and the potential involvement of the suspect. He further clarified that the case is being forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for further investigation and appropriate legal proceedings.

The police spokesman advised the public against resorting to vigilantism and assured that a thorough investigation into Akpan’s death would be conducted.
