Parliament speaker Berri says Lebanon will not give up right to sue Israel over ‘genocide crimes’

Lebanon's parliament speaker, Nabih Berri, has declared that the nation will not abandon its right to sue Israel for alleged "genocide crimes." In a statement on Monday, Berri emphasized that Lebanon must confront Israel through a united national approach, devoid of sectarian considerations. He clarified that Israel's objectives are not the Shiite community or Hezbollah, but rather the stability of Lebanon itself, its unity, and civil peace.

Berri warned against the country descending into internal conflicts. He firmly rejected the June framework agreement and reiterated his opposition to direct negotiations with Israel while under attack. Berri questioned the efficacy of seven rounds of negotiations, noting that the occupied territories have expanded, destruction has intensified, and the death toll has surged.
