Melaka perkenal subsidi selanggara motosikal untuk p-panggilan

Melaka is set to introduce a unique subsidy program for motorcycle courier services, aiming to alleviate the financial burden on over 3,000 food delivery riders across the state. The Chief Minister, Ab Rauf Yusoh, announced that the initiative will be discussed during the upcoming Exco meeting and officially announced next week.

The subsidy, ranging between 20% to 30% of the total motorcycle maintenance costs at selected workshops, will be provided to riders using approved workshops in each district. The Chief Minister emphasized that the welfare of these couriers remains a top priority for the state government, aligning with the Melaka Cares Residents (MeSRa) concept.

The program will involve collaborating with popular food delivery platforms like Grab, Foodpanda, and Shopee to identify and license suitable motorcycle workshops in each district. Additionally, the state government is exploring ways to expand Perkeso's social security coverage to include couriers, reflecting the growing role of the gig economy in the digital economy.

Ab Rauf stressed that the digital transformation has reshaped lifestyles, business models, and work patterns, making couriers an increasingly crucial part of the digital economy ecosystem. The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of providing a unique address for rural areas lacking official addresses to ensure efficient government service delivery.

Finally, Ab Rauf invited all Melaka couriers to attend a special meeting alongside the Melaka Youth Carnival at the Multi-function Trade Centre Melaka (MITC) Ayer Keroh on September 4th, where they will receive various exclusive prizes, including 10 motorcycles and branded caps signed by the Chief Minister.
