Korea Times welcomes new cohort of Global Supporters

The Korea Times recently introduced a new group of Global Supporters on Monday, announcing the launch of the program with 50 students from 41 countries. These ambassadors will serve as representatives for the English-language daily over the course of six months. The program garnered significant interest, with 281 applicants from 44 countries vying for the limited spots.

Selection was based on factors such as social media activity, personal statements, and the applicants' motivations for participating. The diverse group hails from 41 countries, including France, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, China, India, the United States, Vietnam, and Russia. The supporters will actively engage in major events organized by the newspaper, promote its content, and produce digital material.

The program, initially launched in 2021, aims to attract prospective readers and strengthen connections with the existing readership. During the inauguration ceremony held at the newspaper's headquarters in Seoul, Oh Young-jin, the president and publisher of The Korea Times, warmly welcomed the new members. He emphasized the long-term commitment that the organization seeks to establish with these supporters. "We welcome you all to The Korea Times," he stated.
