Fuengirola starts €49m Los Boliches megapark as demolition begins

Fuengirola has begun the €49 million Los Boliches megapark project, with demolition already underway at the old Santa Fe-Antonio Basilio site. The town hall has allocated over €48 thousand for the 3-story underground car park, a rebuilt sports ground, and a new courthouse on the same plot. Mayor Ana Mula attended the event, assuring residents that the project addresses their concerns about parking, a proper stadium, and outdated courtrooms spread across the town.

The demolition of existing structures will commence, clearing the way for the expansion of the site from 13,000 to 14,500 square meters. A joint venture between Vialterra Infraestructuras and Urbasur Actividades y Servicios secured the contract, with construction scheduled to last 29 months. Once completed, the car park will accommodate 1,070 vehicles, while the site will also host a new multi-purpose sports complex, including a football pitch rotated 90 degrees, covered halls for hockey and volleyball, and a third sports hall.

Additional amenities will include stands, changing rooms, stores, a café, a first-aid room, a classroom, public loos, and a 312.5-square-meter outdoor pool. The courthouse will consolidate services previously scattered across multiple buildings. The project, considered the municipality's largest investment, is funded by residents' taxes and "Modelo Fuengirola" budgeting. It is part of a broader mobility plan, which includes upgrades to the Malaga-Fuengirola train line.
