Borno commissioner, Fadahunsi under probe over inciting comments — Police

The Nigeria Police Force has initiated investigations into alleged inciting comments made by three political figures: Sainna Buba, the Borno State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development; Danjuma Shekwolo, Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory; and Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East.

Additionally, 154 individuals arrested during the Osun State governorship election are currently under investigation. During a press briefing in Abuja, the force's spokesperson, Ani Iniedu, stated that comments inciting the public, especially regarding the electoral process, are considered criminal offenses. The police are questioning Senator Fadahunsi over his alleged threat against members of the Accord Party.

The police spokesperson emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order and warned political actors against making such inflammatory statements. They also called for the public's cooperation in providing statements and evidence to prosecute those involved in criminal activities. The spokesperson defended the use of force against protesting pensioners in Lagos, stating that while the rights of pensioners to make demands must be respected, disorderly conduct is not permitted.
