Borno commissioner, Fadahunsi under probe over inciting comments — Police

The Nigeria Police Force has begun investigations into allegations of inciting remarks made by Sainna Buba, the Borno State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Danjuma Shekwolo, the Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, and Senator Francis Fadahunsi representing Osun East. Police spokesperson Ani Iniedu stated that comments inciting the public, especially regarding electoral processes, are considered criminal offenses.

The force is investigating 154 individuals arrested during the Osun State governorship election, as well as the controversial statements made by these political figures. Fadahunsi was questioned in Osun State over a threat against members of the Accord Party, while Shekwolo allegedly warned Kuje Area Council residents that they must vote for the APC in 2027 or leave the council.

Senator Fadahunsi's video allegedly shows him threatening Accord Party members. The police emphasized the importance of public cooperation in the investigation process, urging witnesses to come forward without fear. They also defended the use of force against protesting pensioners in Lagos, stating that while they support the pensioners' right to demand their entitlements, disorderly conduct is not permitted.

The Inspector-General of Police had previously advised the pensioners to use lawful channels to present their grievances.
