Qatar urges int'l action as Israeli occupation seeks to force new regional reality

Doha, Qatar: Qatar is actively engaging with regional and global partners to address Israeli occupation violations and abuses, while opposing efforts to impose a new regional order based on hegemonic ambitions rather than security concerns. During a weekly media briefing, Dr Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, adviser to the Prime Minister and official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the need for international attention and action to hold Israel accountable for its actions.

He highlighted Israeli actions that could not be justified within the context of the Gaza Strip war or the recent regional military escalations. Qatar has been vocal in its warnings, stating that Israel aims to exploit regional tensions to effect strategic changes in the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. The nation is collaborating with partners within the Arab-Islamic group and other regional and international alliances to halt Israeli violations and affirm its stance against impunity for such actions against the Palestinian people.

Following Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani's visit to Iran, which included talks with officials from Oman and Pakistan, Dr Al Ansari underscored these visits as part of broader efforts to mediate and prevent further regional escalations. He reiterated Qatar's support for diplomatic solutions, urging all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize political resolutions.

Dr Al Ansari stressed the global ramifications of the crisis, noting its impact beyond the region, affecting sectors like pharmaceuticals and energy. He reiterated Qatar's commitment to peace, working with partners to secure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and enhance regional security and stability. He also rejected the notion of declining Gulf influence, asserting the continued prominence of GCC states in international politics and global economy, alongside their active roles in mediation and conflict resolution.

Dr Al Ansari expressed Qatar's unwavering support for a "Libyan-Libyan" solution, emphasizing the importance of the international community focusing on empowering Libyans to reach such an agreement. Qatar remains dedicated to providing various forms of support to Libya to foster stability and development, he concluded.
