Barcelona complete signing of Arsenal striker Jesus

Barcelona have officially completed the signing of Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus on a permanent deal, as confirmed by BBC Sport. The Brazilian forward will join the Spanish giants for a fee of £8.6 million (10 million euros), after negotiations had reportedly been close to being finalized. Jesus has struggled to establish himself in Arsenal's first team in recent seasons, with injury problems, as well as competition from players like Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres, impacting his playing time.

Napoli had also shown interest in the player, but Barcelona has secured his signature after his medical examination on Monday. Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, netted 32 goals and provided 22 assists in 123 appearances for the club. Manager Mikel Arteta had previously indicated that Jesus was not training with the squad, hinting at the forward's imminent departure.

This signing marks Barcelona's third acquisition from a Premier League club this summer, following the arrivals of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle and Rodri from Manchester City. Additionally, Barcelona has been pursuing a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, though Atletico has ruled out negotiating with their Spanish counterparts.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have also expressed interest in Alvarez but are unlikely to conclude a deal at this stage. Arsenal has sold Fabio Vieira to Hamburger SV, and Ethan Nwaneri is close to completing a loan move to Borussia Dortmund.
