WATCH: Bunkhouse Swept Away As Flash Flood Ravages Grand Canyon; 20+ Missing

At least 20 people are reported missing following a devastating flash flood in Grand Canyon National Park, United States. The sudden flooding hit the Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch area, carrying large boulders, metal structures, and other debris into the Colorado River. The National Park Service is working closely with Arizona authorities to evacuate people from the impacted region and locate the unaccounted individuals.

They are seeking help from the public to gather any information about the missing, particularly hikers who may have been in the area at the time. Social media images reveal a bunkhouse being carried downstream through muddy, debris-laden floodwaters. The flash flood started around 2:30 pm on Saturday in Bright Angel Creek, which feeds into the Colorado River.

The powerful torrents tore down footbridges and significantly changed the surrounding terrain. Videos depict the flooding expanding the creek bed and generating a new rapid in the river. As of Sunday morning, 62 individuals have been evacuated from Phantom Ranch, a historic canteen and dormitory complex that is a favorite destination for rafters boarding or departing the river.

Authorities have announced additional evacuations are in progress. No injuries have been reported as of yet.
