MQM-P slams PPP for dividing Karachi on ethnic lines

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Syed Mustafa Kamal criticized the PPP for dividing Karachi on ethnic lines during various tenures of power. Speaking at a public rally in Orangi Town, Kamal, who is the federal health minister, highlighted the PPP's history of dividing Karachi for its own gains. Under the PPP, Karachi was divided into seven districts, despite Lahore, with a population of 15 million, remaining a single district.

Kamal accused the PPP-led Sindh government of receiving Rs22 trillion over 18 years while transforming Karachi into one of the world's least liveable cities, with children drowning in open sewers and lacking access to basic drinking water. He emphasized that the struggle for the rights of Karachi and urban Sindh has reached a critical point, stating that MQM-Pakistan has put an end to the politics of division.

Kamal asserted that creating new administrative units is constitutional and called on the PPP to direct its criticism towards its own founder rather than MQM-P. Reflecting on his tenure as Karachi mayor, Kamal mentioned that he delivered Rs300 billion in development projects, transforming Karachi into one of the world's fastest-growing cities.

He also expressed deep sorrow over the 14 infant deaths in Pims, Islamabad, and called for equal concern over the 1,300 children dying daily from malnutrition across Pakistan. Kamal announced a "Pakhtun rally" on September 27 in Sohrab Goth to support new administrative units.
