USS Abraham Lincoln sails past Singapore on its way home from Middle East

The USS Abraham Lincoln, a massive US aircraft carrier, passed by Singapore early Sunday en route back to the United States following a challenging deployment in the Middle East. The ship is anticipated to make a port visit in Thailand. Indonesian journalists stationed on the island of Batam, located across the Singapore Strait, observed the carrier as it navigated through waters near Singapore shortly after 1 am local time.

The Lincoln, one of the US Navy's largest vessels, was instrumental in supporting the US war against Iran. Its deployment included a record-breaking continuous time at sea of over 250 days. There have been mounting concerns regarding the crew's mental health and supply shortages, including food and hygiene items, during this prolonged deployment.

Following reports of these issues, Thai officials have stated that the USS Abraham Lincoln will conduct a rest and recovery period in Thailand before returning to its home base in the United States. Earlier this month, the USS George Washington also arrived in the Middle East as the USS Abraham Lincoln commenced its journey home. The deployment of the George Washington is in response to the prolonged USS Abraham Lincoln deployment that has sparked a crew-welfare crisis.
