USS Abraham Lincoln sails past Singapore on its way home from Middle East

The U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln passed near Singapore early Sunday, on its way back to the United States after a challenging deployment in the Middle East. The ship is expected to dock in Thailand for a stopover before returning to its home port.

Local fishermen on the Indonesian island of Batam, located across the Singapore Strait from Singapore, observed the massive vessel transiting the waters near Singapore just after 1 a.m. local time. The Lincoln, one of the largest warships in the U.S. Navy fleet, was part of the U.S. military's ongoing efforts against Iran. Its mission included a record-breaking continuous deployment period of over 250 days at sea.

Concerns have mounted regarding the mental well-being of the crew and the availability of essential supplies like food and hygiene products during this prolonged mission. The U.S. Navy has acknowledged these issues. As it continues its journey, Thai officials have confirmed that the USS Abraham Lincoln will stop in Thailand for rest and recuperation before heading back to its base in the United States.
