Tinubu celebrates rescue of 21 abductees, vows to hunt down Kogi kidnappers

President Bola Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the successful rescue of 21 abductees, including 15 National Youth Service Corps members and six other Nigerians who were seized by criminals in Kogi State. The President affirmed that security forces, alongside local vigilantes, would relentlessly pursue the perpetrators. The rescued individuals, comprising eight males and 13 females, were freed from a hideout in the Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Tinubu commended the diverse team comprising the military, Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Services, and local vigilantes that carried out the Search and Rescue operation. He assured that the rescued victims were receiving necessary medical care and would reunite with their families. Despite the rescue, Tinubu emphasized that the pursuit of the kidnappers would continue.

He vowed that all those involved in the abduction, including those who aided them, would face legal consequences. Tinubu praised the courage of the joint security team and assured Nigerians that they would be able to travel freely without fear.
