10 NYSC members rescued from kidnappers in Kogi forest

Ten National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were rescued from suspected kidnappers in Egume Forest, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State. The Kogi State Police Command conducted a coordinated rescue operation, aiming to secure the safe release of the victims and dismantle criminal groups operating in the area. Public Relations Officer, ASP Afusat Saliu, stated that the operation is ongoing, with security forces working to rescue remaining victims and arrest suspects.

Kogi State's Police Commissioner, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, praised the police, military, DSS, and other supporting forces for their bravery and commitment during the rescue. ASP Saliu expressed gratitude for the cooperation of residents in the affected communities, who provided crucial information leading to the operation. She urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and to report any suspicious movements or information that could aid in rescuing the remaining victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

The abduction occurred last week while the 15 corps members traveled from Abuja to Bayelsa State; kidnappers demanded N20 million from the families of some victims as ransom.
