Two found charred, one missing in fire that destroys 200 homes in Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU - A devastating fire has consumed approximately 200 homes in Numbak, leaving two charred bodies and one person still missing. The victims identified as siblings and their cousin, were discovered by firefighters during the firefighting operation. The search for the third victim continues as authorities verify their identities and statuses.

The fire, which originated in non-permanent water village houses spread across three villages - Kampung Lok Buta, Kampung Lok Poring and Kampung Sabang Lama - affected around 200 homes within an area approximately 79 meters by 116 meters. The emergency call was received at 1.40am, and the firemen arrived at the scene 14 minutes later at 1.54am.

The flames were extinguished by 6.26am to prevent any further spread. The firefighting and search operations are ongoing, with 44 personnel from various fire stations, assistance from the Royal Malaysia Police, Sabah Electricity, and state officials involved. The exact number of destroyed homes and cause of the fire remain unconfirmed.
