Packers’ Josh Jacobs placed on commissioner exempt list while he faces misdemeanor charges

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been placed on the NFL's commissioner exempt list while two misdemeanor charges against him are pending. This move prevents him from practicing or attending games, though he continues to receive his salary. Jacobs may still be present at the team's facility for meetings, individual workouts, therapy, and rehabilitation.

The charges stem from a physical altercation between Jacobs and his girlfriend, leading to battery and criminal damage to property allegations. Brown County District Attorney David Lasee announced the charges on Thursday, following a disturbance report to police on May 26. Jacobs was released from jail the following day. The Packers, scheduled to open their season on September 13 against Minnesota, issued a statement expressing Jacobs' respect for the NFL process, the team, and his teammates.

His legal team, consisting of David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld, and Clarence F. Duchac III, noted this is an administrative procedure, not a final determination. They added that Jacobs looks forward to returning to the team and the NFL.
