Packers running back Josh Jacobs facing misdemeanor charges of battery, criminal damage to property

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is currently facing misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property. The charges stem from a physical altercation with his girlfriend, as described by police. Jacobs was arrested on May 26 following a disturbance call to his home and was released from jail the following day.

Brown County District Attorney David Lasee announced the charges on Thursday, stating that his office was seeking a fair and complete review of the evidence. Lasee emphasized that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and does not imply guilt, and that Jacobs is presumed innocent.

Jacobs' legal team, comprised of David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld, and Clarence F. Duchac III, acknowledged the charges but noted that they do not include domestic violence. They emphasized that the allegations will be handled in court and not through the media, expressing respect for the District Attorney's office and the legal process.

Initially, Jacobs was arrested on five charges, including a felony count of strangulation and suffocation, along with battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, and intimidation of a victim. However, only the misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct were ultimately filed.
