Russian attack sparks fire in nine-story residential building in Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi district

A Russian drone strike ignited a blaze in a nine-story apartment complex within Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi district on August 29, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service. Fortunately, no one was injured. The inferno broke out on the uppermost floor, but firefighters were able to bring it under control. The ceiling separating the affected apartment and the roof sustained significant damage.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko later disclosed that two individuals sustained injuries in a different part of the Sviatoshynskyi district. The Kyiv City Military Administration also reported structural harm to residential properties in the region, with no reported fires. The State Emergency Service subsequently documented the aftermath of the attack, which inflicted damage to homes and an administrative building.

Russian forces have been conducting drone assaults on Kyiv and its surrounding regions for three days straight, including the use of jet-powered Shahed missiles. Explosions have been reported, and strikes and fires have been observed in Kyiv Oblast, resulting in fatalities. Approximately 200 residents were evacuated from the village of Myla in the Bucha district following the attack.

A major fire, accompanied by explosions, continues, and a stretch of the Kyiv-Chop highway has been entirely shut down.
