Kyiv warehouse explosion kills 37 in third night of aerial assault

A Russian drone strike on a warehouse in Kyiv killed 37 people, according to Ukrainian officials. The incident occurred on Friday and was the second such attack on munitions storage facilities in recent months. The warehouse, located in the village of Myla, was storing munitions when it was hit by a Russian drone, causing a detonation that prompted the evacuation of residents.

At least 37 individuals were killed and over 370 were displaced, with significant damage inflicted on nearby infrastructure, including residential buildings and an elderly care facility. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy vowed to hold those responsible accountable for their decisions, emphasizing that regulations are in place to prevent storing ammunition near residential areas.

This drone assault is part of a sustained offensive by Russia against Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, with air attacks continuing into a third consecutive day. Nine other regions were also targeted in overnight strikes, and Kyiv specifically faced a constant barrage of high-speed drones. In addition to the 37 fatalities, a 14-year-old girl was killed in Myla and a two-year-old girl in Kyiv, as Ukrainian officials confirmed.

Prime Minister Sergiy Koretskyi visited the blast site, stating that criminal cases had been opened for official negligence.
