Printer apologises, says last-minute order led to incorrect Jalur Gemilang star worn by Kedah MB

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and several dignitaries wore attire at a Merdeka event featuring an incorrect Jalur Gemilang star, according to a printing company. NE Creative Ventures, the company, acknowledged the mistake publicly, accepting full responsibility. The error originated from a last-minute order rushed to meet a tight deadline, causing less thorough quality checks.

The star on the Malaysian flag in the attire had fewer than the official 14 points. NE Creative Ventures blamed the oversight on additional last-minute orders during the production stage, affecting the detailed checking process. The company will provide replacement attire meeting official specifications and tighten its standard operating procedures, particularly for items involving official symbols, state crests, or corporate logos.

They requested customers to sign a final artwork approval form before printing, especially for such items. The incident drew criticism online after photographs of Sanusi and others wearing the attire went viral on social media. The printing went wrong during the Merdeka Kibar Jalur Gemilang Boat Parade held in conjunction with Malaysia's 69th Independence Day celebrations. Nearly 100 boats participated in the parade, flying the Jalur Gemilang.
