Nepal seeks technical help and billions of dollars for flood as bad weather hampers rescue

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan recently shared his emotional reaction to the devastating flash floods in Nepal, describing the visuals as "unbearable to watch." In a heartfelt blog post, the cinema icon expressed his solidarity with the victims during the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi. Alongside a photograph of his wrist adorned with colorful rakhis, Bachchan wished everyone on the special bond of love and care between siblings, emphasizing that this relationship should never be broken.

He then addressed the gravity of the flood situation, stating that the "fury of nature" cannot be battled and that the divine presence is crucial in such tragedies. The actor prayed for the affected individuals, acknowledging the human suffering and emphasizing the need for support and compassion. Other Bollywood celebrities, such as Sanjay Dutt, Bhumi Pednekar, Manisha Koirala, Kriti Sanon, Sonu Sood, Kangana Ranaut, and Farhan Akhtar, also expressed their condolences and support for the flood victims on their social media platforms.

The flash floods hit northern Nepal on August 26, causing the death of hundreds of people and leaving many missing. The affected regions include Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading along the Trishuli River, with the death toll rising to 538.
