MotoGP Aragon GP: Marco Bezzecchi beats Marc Marquez to sensational pole

Marco Bezzecchi achieved a sensational pole position at the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, narrowly edging out rival Marc Marquez by just over one tenth of a second. Despite still not being fully fit following a July crash in Germany, Bezzecchi of the factory Aprilia team was the only rider to surpass the 1 minute 46 second mark in qualifying.

Reigning world champion Marquez, who has won a record seven times at MotorLand Aragon, settled for second place after an error on his final lap. Alex Marquez qualified third. The session began with Marquez setting a blistering 1 minute 45.136 seconds, breaking the circuit record previously set by Bezzecchi in practice. Bezzecchi quickly climbed to the top spot with a time of 1 minute 44.984 seconds, extending his advantage after Marc Marquez's time slipped further.

Despite a slight improvement from Marc Marquez on his last lap, Bezzecchi maintained his lead, claiming his first pole position since May's Italian Grand Prix. Marquez finished 0.089 seconds behind, with his younger brother Alex another 0.2 seconds back in third. British GP winner Raul Fernandez secured fourth place, ahead of Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta for KTM.
