Jai Arrow makes emotional return for South Sydney

Jai Arrow returned to South Sydney for the final two matches of the year, leading the team out for their game against Gold Coast and receiving a standing ovation. Arrow, diagnosed with MND earlier this year, has been granted special dispensation by the NRL to play. He was substituted for Cameron Murray and left the field with cheers from the stands.

Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett and veteran player Jason Clark assisted Arrow with his boots before the match. The Titans honored Arrow by wearing a commemorative jersey featuring his likeness. Arrow had previously played 56 matches for South Sydney between 2018 and 2020. This appearance will be his 99th match for the club and his 180th and final game overall.

Arrow's return was revealed during a team review session with South Sydney players on Monday. Team fullback Matt Dufty praised Arrow's impact, stating, "Whatever we can do to give back to him, even if it's a little bit, it's just what we need to do." The NRL community has rallied behind Arrow since his diagnosis in May, celebrating his 30th birthday with a specially shaped jersey and commemorative jersey, and raising over $1 million for his cause.
