Elavarasan urges immediate squad upgrades after loss to Terengganu

Melaka's head coach, E. Elavarasan, opted for humor instead of alarm after the team's 3-0 opening loss to Terengganu. Despite the setback, Elavarasan isn't oblivious to the immediate need for squad upgrades when they host Negri Sembilan in an important Super League match on Sunday. He candidly pointed out that Melaka fell short in creative play, finishing accuracy, and foreign player talent.

To improve, Elavarasan announced plans to secure at least four new foreign signings in midfield and attack before the crucial encounter. Elavarasan admitted, "Our overall performance simply wasn't good enough. Terengganu were a far more organized, quality side, and you have to accept when you lose to a better team."

Elavarasan went on to say, "We lacked creative thinking in our attack and quality in our finishing. We cannot play the way we did. With the arrival of up to four new import players, the level should improve." The coach's words were put into action as Melaka welcomed Liberian striker Kpah Sherman on Friday. Sherman brings valuable M-League experience, having previously played for PKNS and other prominent teams.

However, Melaka now faces Negri Sembilan, who were temporarily absent from the opening weekend due to an influenza outbreak. With Spanish coach Daniel Gimenez at the helm, Negri is set to challenge for the remainder of the 10-day Super League and FA Cup season, including two cup ties and another league match. Captain Ahmad Khuzaimi Piee has rallied the team to maintain focus and physical discipline during the demanding schedule.
