Vote now in the Marion Star Football Player of Week 2 Poll

During the Week 2 action in the Marion area, several football players put on impressive performances that were worthy of recognition. To honor these standout players, the Marion Star is conducting a poll for the Football Player of Week 2. Fans can vote multiple times for their favorite among the nominated players, with voting available on MarionStar.com and its app until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The nominees for the Marion Star Football Player of Week 2 are as follows:

Elgin-Ridgedale: In their Week 2 matchup, Elgin honored its new football field by defeating Ridgedale. Archer Johnston led the team with 12 carries for 120 yards and three touchdowns.

Pleasant: Weston Shaffer dominated Pleasant's victory over Triad. Shaffer rushed for 389 yards on 24 carries, along with three touchdowns, and completed 9-of-10 passes for 114 yards and another score.

Mount Gilead: Kadin St. Clair's stellar performance secured a win for Mount Gilead against Upper Sandusky. St. Clair racked up 12 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, a fumble recovery, and an interception.

Cardington-Lincoln: Dillon Donkin contributed 77 yards on seven carries and eight tackles on defense in a loss to Mohawk. However, Donkin's efforts were not enough to secure a win.

Marion Harding: Mattic Simmers stepped up for Marion Harding in a loss to Ashland. Simmers led the team with seven tackles and added 40 rushing yards.
