Families wait for answers as six South Africans remain missing after Nepal-Tibet floods

As devastating floods swept through the Nepal-Tibet border region, striking on Wednesday after an ice-rock avalanche and glacial collapse, the humanitarian organization Gift of the Givers has been working tirelessly to locate six South Africans who remain missing. Families anxiously await news of their loved ones, awaiting answers in the face of rising death tolls and continued rescue efforts.

At least hundreds have died, with over 600 reported dead, while thousands remain unaccounted for. The organization's Head of Search and Rescue, Ahmed Bham, was invited to a Nepalese government emergency meeting where the Foreign Minister and other officials expressed interest in the K9 capabilities of Gift of the Givers' specialist team.

The organization has placed a second search-and-recovery team on standby, ready to assist the Nepalese government in their rescue operations. The South African Hindu Maha Sabha has also reached out to the Nepalese Embassy in Pretoria to determine urgent assistance needs. Efforts are ongoing to locate the missing South Africans, with individuals and organizations sharing their photos and information to aid in the search.
