Emirati culture and tradition on display as Adihex gets under way

The UAE is showcasing its rich culture and traditional sporting activities at the 23rd Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, Adihex, which began on Friday and is set to run for 10 days. This year's exhibition is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors and over 2,400 exhibitors from 71 countries. Adnec, where the event is held, is showcasing the nation's deep-rooted passion for falconry, equestrianism, outdoor adventure pursuits, and environmental sustainability.

Falconry and equestrianism are at the forefront of the exhibition, highlighting the importance of these activities in UAE life. Falconry, a beloved tradition, is demonstrated through the display of prized birds of prey, including falcons, camels, and Salukis. Breeding falcons is a significant part of the event, with many breeders showcasing their birds in hopes of selling them to fellow enthusiasts.

Yousif Al Hammedi, a trainer for the Emirates Arabian Horse Association, expressed his excitement about performing with his Arabian horse, Rabdan. He emphasized how Arabian horses hold deep cultural significance in the region and are cherished as family heirlooms.

The exhibition also features locally bred Arabian horses participating in daily shows and performances. Yousif Al Hammedi shared that Arabian horses are at the forefront of the equestrian section, which celebrates a breed that embodies the region's cultural heritage. Visitors from around the UAE and beyond, including Oman, Romania, and Kuwait, are expected to attend Adihex to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere and make purchases from the diverse range of exhibitors.

Nabil Al Muqbali, a visitor from Oman, expressed his commitment to preserving cultural traditions, while Elod Gyorgy, a UAE resident from Romania, appreciated the unique opportunity to explore Emirati hunting heritage.
