WCE expects more traffic as Malaysians hit the road for National Day, school holidays

IPOH, Aug 28 - West Coast Expressway (WCE) anticipates a surge in traffic on its operational sections during the 69th National Day celebrations and school holidays. The expected vehicle count is projected to surpass 150,000 daily, driven by increased travel to hometowns and inter-state journeys, particularly between the Klang Valley and locations in Selangor and Perak.

WCE's Highway Operations head, Syed Muhd Naguib Syed Mohd, advised drivers to start their trips early and to steer clear of peak hours, especially from late afternoon to night. Emphasizing safety, he urged motorists not to compromise safety for mere minutes of time. WCE plans to enhance its operational readiness by increasing 24-hour highway patrols, Emergency Response Teams (ERTs), and real-time traffic monitoring.

Motorists are encouraged to utilize the WCE App for navigation, real-time traffic updates, including live CCTV footage, and emergency assistance can be reached through the WCE Infoline at 1700-81-6600, available round the clock. Additionally, WCE reminded drivers to ensure their vehicles are in good condition, adhere to speed limits, and use the emergency lane sparingly.

Motorcycle shelters are available along the highway for those in need of a rest or protection from the elements.
