Tottenham sign Man City’s Marmoush on loan

Tottenham Hotspur has signed Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush on a season-long loan deal, with an option to make it permanent for £60 million next summer. The 27-year-old Egypt international will join fellow City teammate Savio at the north London club, after the Brazilian moved there for a record-breaking £75 million in a previous transfer window.

Marmoush expressed his excitement about joining Tottenham, stating that the club's project and its ambitious nature were attractive to him. He also praised his new head coach Roberto de Zerbi, praising his passion for the game. Marmoush previously joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million in January 2025 and has scored 16 goals in 62 appearances for the club across all competitions.

After a promising start to his City career, Marmoush has been used more as a substitute in recent matches, appearing in just 13 league games last season after Erling Haaland became the club's primary striker. In City's 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal and their 2-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth, Marmoush served as a late substitute but did not make an impact.

Tottenham has spent over £312 million in the current summer transfer window, bolstering their squad with players such as Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, and Jan Paul van Hecke. Defenders Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, along with goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, have also joined the team on free transfers. De Zerbi expressed his enthusiasm for Marmoush, describing him as an ambitious, hungry, and determined player who possesses incredible attacking quality and a strong desire to improve and win.

He believes that Marmoush's pace, intelligence, and goal-scoring ability can elevate Tottenham's attacking play to new heights.
