Power without trust becomes greed, warns Selangor Sultan

Shah Alam, August 28 — Selangor's Sultan, Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has cautioned Muslims against breaking trust, asserting that it can erode public confidence and harm the community. According to a Selangor Royal Office Facebook post, the ruler emphasized that those entrusted with managing the assets and interests of the Muslim community, especially public funds, bear a significant responsibility before Allah.

Sultan Sharafuddin urged everyone to conduct their duties honestly, irrespective of the scale, highlighting that trust and integrity are crucial for genuine prosperity and independence. "Managing public funds with integrity reflects our love for the community and the country. Refrain from misusing wealth intended for the people's benefit," he emphasized.

Those found guilty of betraying trust must face punishment, while those who uphold their trust should be supported, and systems should continually be improved, the Ruler stated. Sultan Sharafuddin also expressed worry that while the public grapples with hardships, some continue to profit from wealth garnered through breached trust and manipulated justice, a form of injustice arising from power driven by greed rather than trust.

He reminded Muslims that those who perpetrate injustice will not evade divine judgment. The ruler warned that indications of the end times are becoming more evident, such as appointing the unqualified to responsibilities and abusing positions of trust for personal gain. Earlier, Sultan Sharafuddin participated in a Yasin recital, prayers, and tahlil in connection with the state-level 69th National Day celebration at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, alongside Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
