Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, has announced the establishment of the Kaduna State Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development. Represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof Idris Bugaje, the Minister emphasized that industries should recruit graduates from Kaduna's vocational training institute. Bugaje expressed disappointment in Nigeria's reliance on imported skilled workers such as welders, scaffolders, integrity testers, and construction workers from ECOWAS and Asian countries.
He commended Governor Uba Sani for creating a hub of skills manpower in Nigeria and approved the use of the institute's training manuals nationwide. The Kaduna State Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development has developed 14 different training manuals in 14 trade areas and was granted permission by the Minister to use these manuals across Nigeria.
