UP, Bihar, Uttarakhand rush to evacuate as Nepal floods kill 160

KATHMANDU: Scorching flash floods in Nepal have left at least 160 people dead, with hundreds more foreign nationals unaccounted for. The Himalayan nation, a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, draws hikers and climbers from around the globe to face the challenge of its highest peaks, including Mount Everest. Here's a breakdown of the situation:

Indian nationals: 142 from the country are missing, traveling with Samrat Tours & Travels, Leaf Holiday, and Himalayan Glacier.

Ukrainian nationals: 53 believed missing, including a group of 46 tourists whose whereabouts are unknown.

Australian nationals: 34 are unaccounted for, prompting Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to express concern for their loved ones.

Malaysian nationals: 17 travelers with Fishtail Tours & Travels are missing, with 11 reported lost by the Rasuwa district.

United Kingdom nationals: 12 with the Alpine Eco Trek agency are unaccounted for.

South Korean nationals: 9 hydropower workers are missing in the Rasuwa district.

Japanese nationals: 5 feared missing, with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi expressing distress over the reports.

South African nationals: 4 are unaccounted for, also with Alpine Eco Trek.

United States nationals: 3 with Fishtail Tours & Travels are missing.

Portuguese nationals: A woman and a man reported missing, with the ministry monitoring the situation closely.

Dutch nationals: 1 Dutch citizen traveling with the same company as the Australians is also unaccounted for.

Italian nationals: 2 with their guide stranded due to a landslide, receiving aid, but the ministry is unaware if any of the 90 Italian citizens in Nepal/Tibet are affected.

Unconfirmed nationalities: Additional missing foreigners whose nationalities have not been confirmed, including 77 with Trekkers Society, 26 with Kailash Journey, and 8 with Richa Tours & Travels.

Nepali nationals: 93 missing, as reported by the Nepali tourism board.
