Ayutthaya woman admits kidnap and rape claim was a test of her family’s love

A 28-year-old woman in Ayutthaya has admitted to inventing her claim of being abducted, tied up, sexually assaulted and robbed, according to police. She goes by the pseudonym Ms A. The incident reportedly occurred on August 21 when two men on a motorcycle followed her as she rode to work from Tambon Sam Tum in Sena district. One of the men allegedly threatened her with a knife and forced her onto her motorcycle, leading her for about 12 kilometers to a wooded area beside rice fields near the Hong Prapat irrigation canal in Moo 3.

There, the men tied her hands and feet, gagged her, and attempted to strip her before stopping when they heard someone nearby, possibly a farmer. They reportedly took about 2,000 baht from her before forcing her to unlock her phone and use it to send threatening messages to her partner, a photo of her bound, and her location. Her partner subsequently called the police, who found her still tied up.

Investigators from Marawichai police station are now considering whether to charge Ms A with filing a false report. The woman's complaint also referenced a previous incident in which she claimed two men had attempted to rob her, though the timing of this incident is disputed. During a questioning session that lasted over half an hour, Ms A admitted that she had fabricated the entire story.

She stated that she had family problems and felt unloved, staging the incident to determine if her family would be concerned about her. Her partner denied any knowledge of the fabrication and claimed he was not involved. Police noted that Ms A was in a poor mental state and are currently caring for her while they review the evidence to determine if her actions constitute the filing of a false police report.
