MIC’s Saravanan says he is the ex-minister being charged tomorrow

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officials have announced that former human resources minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan will face charges in Sessions Court tomorrow. The Tapah MP claims the charges stem from a statement connecting him to the hiring of foreign workers during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2022. Saravanan, who is also the deputy president of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MIC), asserts that the initial allegation was made by a deceased individual and subsequently withdrawn by the witness through a statutory declaration.

Despite the death of the primary witness, Saravanan remains committed to defending himself and facing the charges as per the law. He has requested the court to expedite the trial proceedings. The MACC issued a media invitation today, indicating that a former minister will be charged at the Sessions Court tomorrow in connection with alleged bribery under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.
