Vote For Me, I’ll Make Bawumia President – Boakye Agyarko

Boakye Agyarko, a former Energy Minister and NPP National Chairman aspirant, pledged to guide the party towards victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 presidential election and a resurgence of NPP majority in Parliament if he becomes their National Chairman. Speaking after submitting his nomination forms at the party's headquarters in Accra, he unveiled his strategy dubbed "Operation One Touch," with the aim to secure two victories in a single election - appointing Dr. Bawumia as President and regaining NPP's majority in Parliament.

He insisted that his vision rests on the implementation of "Operation One Touch," a plan that involves achieving both victories in one go. Dr. Bawumia's presidency would not be feasible without a parliamentary majority, and Agyarko is confident that the two goals can be achieved together. He promised to offer Dr. Bawumia the organizational support necessary to triumph in the upcoming election.

Acknowledging NPP's declining parliamentary presence, he highlighted the party's seats dropping from 169 in 2016 to 137 in 2020, and further to 88 in the 2024 general election. The presidential vote deficit in 2024 highlighted a significant disconnect between the NPP and certain demographics, such as traders, teachers, farmers, drivers, and young graduates.

Despite this, Agyarko emphasized the enduring soundness of the NPP's creed and ideas, stressing that the issue at hand was not their doctrine, but the lack of discipline in its execution. Among his key commitments, Agyarko vowed to maintain unity within the party, create a credible membership register, enhance financial accountability, mend relations with disgruntled members, and bolster party structures.

In response to the NPP's recent transition to a one-member, one-vote system, he emphasized the necessity of a reliable and transparent membership register. He also called for unity among party members, insisting that the NPP must remain an inclusive home to all supporters, irrespective of their background or religious beliefs.
