Five years after its announcement Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas VR has finally come to the Meta Quest 3 — via a vibe-coded fan-made mod

Five years after its initial announcement, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas VR has finally made its way to the Meta Quest 3 via a fan-made mod. The official port from Meta never materialized, leaving modders to step up and deliver the VR experience. GeT_RiCh, a member of the Flat2VR Discord community, is spearheading the effort to bring the beloved game to Quest headsets.

However, setting up the game is no simple task - it requires an original copy of GTA San Andreas from Google Play Store, a PS2 sound pack, a PC, a Quest 3 headset in Developer Mode, and a significant amount of storage space. The modding process is intricate and time-consuming, involving the use of vibe-coded software to help install the game.

Despite the challenges, the modding community's dedication to bringing this classic game to life is commendable.
