Zayed National Museum to hold long weekend programme to mark Emirati Women's Day

The Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi will host a long weekend programme to honor Emirati Women's Day, a celebration of the vital contributions made by women to the UAE's development. The cultural landmark on Saadiyat Island will offer a three-day schedule of events starting from Friday, in recognition of Emirati Women's Day on August 28.

Throughout the long weekend, visitors can expect a diverse range of activities, including workshops, artisan demonstrations, guided tours, and live performances by Emirati artists. One notable event is "Between the Past and Present," a workshop where participants will learn traditional Talli and Khous handicrafts.

Another highlight is Mix and Make with chef Abeer Allouz, who will lead visitors in creating date-based treats inspired by Emirati flavors, emphasizing the fruit's crucial role in local cuisine. Additionally, museum-goers will have the opportunity to create a signature perfume using Emirati and international scents, personalizing their creation with a custom-made label.

Live musical performances will also play a significant role during the three-day celebration, further showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the UAE. Emirati Women's Day, observed annually on August 28, is a time to reflect on the accomplishments of Emirati women and acknowledge their significant role in shaping the nation's progress over the decades.

Established in 2015 by Sheikha Fatima, Mother of the Nation, the 2019 Emirati Women's Day programme will extend beyond a single day, running for an entire month under the theme "We Emerge Stronger and Better." This extended observance aims to highlight the success stories of Emirati women and recognize their crucial role in the nation's future.
