Veteran journalist, Dotun Oladipo dies at 56

Veteran journalist Dotun Oladipo has passed away at the age of 56. The renowned publisher of Eagle Online succumbed to sudden illness at his office on Tuesday. This heartbreaking news was confirmed by Danlami Nmodu, President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), on Tuesday night. In a message shared on the guild’s WhatsApp platform, Danlami expressed his sorrow stating, “It has just been confirmed that Emeritus President, Mr Dotun Oladipo, died today.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen.” The tragic news was further reported on Wednesday morning by Nkanu Egbe, General Secretary of the Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society (IMPCMS). He described the loss as “devastating,” adding that the Executive Committee would provide further details about funeral arrangements and interim leadership matters.

Dotun was not only a respected figure in journalism but also a guest analyst on the popular TVC programme, Journalist Hangout. Prior to his death, he held the positions of President of IMPCMS and Emeritus President of GOCOP. Before establishing Eagle Online, Dotun had previously worked with the Nigerian Tribune and Nigerian Compass, and served as Politics Editor at PUNCH Newspapers.
