GOCOP mourns former President Dotun Oladipo

The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) mourns the loss of its former President, Dotun Oladipo, the publisher of The Eagle Online. Oladipo passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the age of 56. He held the position from 2017 to 2021 and played a crucial role in shaping GOCOP during its formative years. Prior to entering the online publishing world, Oladipo was a seasoned journalist and editor with extensive experience in traditional media.

Recognizing the need for collaboration among publishers, he brought his expertise to The Eagle Online and helped establish a stronger professional community. During his tenure as President, Oladipo actively represented GOCOP in various engagements and worked closely with members as the Guild navigated the challenges and opportunities brought by the rapid growth of online publishing.

GOCOP President, Danlami Nmodu, expressed deep sorrow over Oladipo's passing. He highlighted his significant contributions to the Guild's development, noting that his experience as a journalist and publisher was invaluable. Nmodu emphasized Oladipo's passion for online media's role in Nigeria and his dedication to the Guild's growth.

As a journalist before entering digital publishing, Oladipo's career laid a solid foundation for his leadership in the Guild. The Guild also remembered Oladipo as a dedicated colleague who maintained relationships with publishers across the country, even after leaving office.
