'People don't believe me': Ishan Kishan on his love for red-ball cricket

New Delhi: Ishan Kishan, the left-handed batsman known for his powerful batting in white-ball cricket, revealed his passion for red-ball cricket during a match against North East Zone in Bengaluru. Despite his limited opportunities in Test cricket, Kishan expressed his love for the red-ball format, citing the challenging competition and the thrill of being part of a Test match.

In his last of two Test appearances, Kishan successfully scored 65 first-class matches, including the IPL. The 28-year-old admitted that transitioning from white-ball to red-ball cricket was not easy, as the rules and gameplay differ significantly. Kishan emphasized that players must not make excuses for their performance and focus on improving themselves.

During the match, Kishan was dismissed for just four runs, as he tried to guide a wide ball behind point but was caught behind. Kishan explained that he often thinks about not playing a shot, which led him to execute the very shot he wanted to avoid. Despite the loss, East Zone secured a significant innings and 210-run victory, thanks to Anukul Roy's impressive five-wicket haul. Kishan believes the team needs to be more energetic and focused in their next match to maintain their winning momentum.
