One dead, three injured after 4WD crashes into tree at Miri public park

Miri, Aug 26 - Tragedy struck in the early hours of the day when a fatal accident unfolded at Taman Awam Miri, Jalan Bintulu-Miri. A 4WD vehicle collided with a tree, resulting in one fatality and three injuries. The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) responded to the emergency call at 3 am, dispatching personnel from the Miri Fire and Rescue Station to the scene, which was located about four kilometres away.

Upon arrival, firefighters successfully extricated the trapped victim using specialized equipment. Sadly, the 24-year-old man who died was found trapped in the driver's seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Ministry of Health (MOH) medical officer and his body was handed over to the police for further investigation. Among the injured, one passenger faced serious injuries while the other two sustained minor injuries.

All received initial medical attention from MOH personnel at the scene. The rescue operation concluded at 3.53 am.
