One dead, three injured after 4WD crashes into tree at Miri public park

Miri, August 26 - A fatal accident occurred when a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle crashed into a tree at Taman Awam Miri along Jalan Bintulu-Miri early this morning. The incident resulted in one death and three injuries. The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) reported that the deceased was a 24-year-old man who was trapped in the driver's seat at the time of the crash.

Fire and rescue personnel from the Miri Fire and Rescue Station were promptly dispatched to the scene of the accident, which was located approximately four kilometers away from their station. Special equipment was utilized to extricate the trapped victim, who was later pronounced dead by a Ministry of Health (MOH) medical officer at the scene. The police were subsequently tasked with handling the body for further procedures.

The accident involved three individuals in total with the injured: one passenger suffered serious injuries while the remaining two sustained minor injuries. Initial medical treatment was provided to all three victims by MOH personnel at the scene. The rescue operation was successfully concluded at 3.53 am.
