VIDEO: Umahi inspects Benin-Agbor-Asaba expressway, apologises to commuters

On Tuesday, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, conducted a urgent federal inspection of the congested Benin-Agbor-Asaba Expressway after President Bola Tinubu directed measures to alleviate the hardships faced by stranded motorists. Umahi arrived in Edo State via a video shared on his official X account, which showed him inspecting the road's condition.

In a press release, it was confirmed that Tinubu had ordered immediate corrective actions on the Benin-Agbor-Asaba route and the Ifaki-Kabba-Ado Ekiti road, which stretches across Ekiti and Kogi States. Umahi joined the Minister of State for Works and ministry officials in Ekiti and Kogi States to begin remedial works on the Ekiti-Kogi corridor.

Simultaneously, Umahi inspected the Benin-Agbor-Asaba road alongside National Assembly Works Committee members, aiming to coordinate a response among key stakeholders such as the Edo and Delta State Governments and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Umahi expressed regret for the commuters' challenges and assured that the Federal Government's response would include both short-term relief and long-term solutions to restore the roads' reliability.
