VeryDarkMan highlights insecurity concerns, attacks on judiciary at NBA conference

Social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, addressed concerns about his invite to the Nigerian Bar Association's 2026 Annual General Conference. Otse, speaking at the conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said he wasn't there to lecture on law but to share his firsthand experience with insecurity issues. He criticized the media for not covering the aftermath of killings by unknown gunmen, recalling an instance of a judge's abduction in Kebbi State on July 26, which took place almost a week after his kidnapping.

Otse also criticized media for their lack of coverage of the June 13, 2025, attack in Yelwata, Benue State, which left over 200 people dead and caused millions of dollars in property damage. During the attack, Fulani attackers allegedly retaliated after a Fulani boy was killed. According to a prosecution witness, over 200 armed men, sponsored by disgruntled Fulani chiefs, were involved in the Yelwata attack.
