Trump threatens to change Lake Ontario's name as trade war with Canada heats up

Ford vowed to maintain a united front against the US, calling for an "economic war" and threatening to cut off electricity and critical minerals from Ontario if the dispute intensifies. Ford dismissed Trump's insults, declaring himself ready to face them and stressing that "everything is on the table" for Ontario if the dispute escalates.

Critical minerals, vital for US national security and manufacturing, are becoming increasingly important as the Pentagon seeks more secure sources amid the US-China rivalry in mineral mining and processing.
